Mountain West Preview

Week 11

The Mountain West season has included 2 teams ranked high in the polls and one staring at the very least at a BCS bid. TCU and Utah are currently tied at 5-0 in the conference with BYU closely behind at 4-1. The Horned Frogs are currently ranked #4 in the BCS. Key upcoming battles including this weekend’s big tilt, Utah at TCU and Utah traveling to BYU to end the season.

Previews:

UNLV at Air Force: The Running Rebels travel to Air Force to face a very good Falcon squad. Rebel QB Omar Clayton will need to have a great game for UNLV to have any chance. The Air Force defense will dominate the game while QB Tim Jefferson will rack up the rushing yards. Prediction: Air Force 34 UNLV 13

BYU at New Mexico: The Lobos will find it difficult to get their 1st victory as they host BYU and their explosive offense. New Mexico will remain winless as Max Hall will have a monster day. Prediction: BYU 55 New Mexico 17

Wyoming at San Diego State: Both Wyoming and San Diego State are coming off of blow out losses, Wyoming 52-0 at the hands of BYU and SDSU at the hands of TCU 55-12. Wyoming QB Austyn Carta-Samuels will need to have a big game for Wyoming to move to .500 in the conference. Aztec QB Ryan Lindley has played very well up until the TCU game. He will have a big game against the Cowboy secondary. Prediction: SDSU 43 Wyoming 34

Utah at TCU: A tremendous match-up between two ranked teams with the fate of the conference on the line. The #16 Utes will look to freshmen QB Jordan Wynn to generate offense against one of the best defenses in the nation. TCU should be able to score points as QB Andy Dalton should find success against the Utah defense. TCU will shut Utah’s running game down and force Wynn to beat them. Very few can find success against the tremendous defense of the Horned Frogs. Prediction: TCU 37 Utah 20

Week 10 Review:

Army at Air Force: The Falcons defense dominated the game as they cruised to an easy 35-7 victory.

BYU at Wyoming: The Cowboys were no match for the Cougars as they dominated the game winning 52-0.

Colorado State at UNLV: The Rams were no match for the Rebels as UNLV got their 2nd conference victory.

TCU at SDSU: The Horned Frogs continued their dominance as they handled the Aztecs 55-12. The victory sets up the big battle with Utah.

New Mexico at Utah: The Lobos remained winless as Utah dominated 45-14. The Utes’ victory sets up the biggest game of the conference season as they travel to TCU.
