Mountain West Recap

Week 8

Air Force vs. Utah: Four quarters wasn’t enough to decide the slug fest between the Falcons and the Utes. The thriller went into overtime with Utah prevailing 23-16. Falcon QB Connor Dietz threw for 64 yards and rushed for 98 in the lost. Utah WR David Reed had the most impact for the Utes. He hauled in 7 catches for 149 yards and a score. Next: Air Force will travel to Colorado State. Utah hosts Wyoming.

BYU vs. TCU: The much ballyhooed game included the ESPN College Game Day Crew. Former BYU Head Coach Levell Edwards was on hand for the festivities. Everything was a celebration of the BYU program, setting the Cougars up for a major victory, one problem, the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU rained on the parade scoring 3 touchdowns to start the game as they cruised to a 38-7 victory. Next: BYU has a bye week while TCU will host UNLV.

Colorado State vs. San Diego State: The Aztecs found themselves in an early 14-0 deficit but managed to hang tough and dominate in the 2nd half outscoring the Rams 35-7. QB Ryan Lindley threw for 6 touchdowns and 459 yards with DeMarco Sampson hauling in an incredible 15 catches for 257 yards in the 42-28 victory. Colorado State couldn’t get the offense going after a fast start. QB Grant Stucker threw for only 182 yards in the loss. Next: Colorado State hosts Air Force. San Diego State hosts New Mexico.

New Mexico vs. UNLV: The Rebels got back in the winning column with a 34-17 victory against winless New Mexico. UNLV QB Omar Clayton threw for 204 yards and two scores in the victory. Next: New Mexico travels to San Diego State while UNLV travels to TCU.
