TCU to join Big East for 2012-13 season
The Horned Frogs were extended all-sports membership to their new league
After calling the Mountain West Conference home for the past six seasons, Texas Christian decided that full-sports membership in the Big East Conference and everything that accompanies BCS inclusion on the gridiron was too good of a deal to turn down.
Prior to their six-year stay in the MWC, the Horned Frogs called Conference USA home from 2001-04. TCU was also a member of the WAC (1996-2000) after the Southwest Conference broke up with the formation of the Big 12.
TCU will be the Big East's ninth football playing institution and 17th basketball member.
Long-time football coach Gary Patterson and the Horned Frog football team just completed their second straight undefeated regular season at 12-0 and await their BCS destination. If Auburn loses to South Carolina and/or Oregon is beaten by Oregon State, TCU will likely be the first non-AQ team to play for the national title since the system's inception prior to the 1998 season.
