Utah Utes @ Wyoming Cowboys Basketball Recap

Utah 68, Wyoming 51

The Utah Utes defeated the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday night at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie Wyoming to secure their first Mountain West Conference victory of the season.  Junior college transfer Will Clyburn continued his great play scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to aid the Utes in snapping a season high long seven game losing streak.  Nearly half of Utah's shot attempts came from behind the arc.  Luckily for head coach Jim Boylen's squad, they hit on 12 of those attempts.

Wyoming was led again by sophomore guard Desmar Jackson, who scored 17 points, and Amath M'Baye who had a double-double, adding 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Head Coach Heath Schuyler's team simply couldn't generate enough offensive firepower to go along with a stout defensive effort.  The Cowboys held the Utes to under 40 percent shooting, but could only muster 35 percent shooting on their own, and were only 2-of-10 from the three-point line.

Beyond Clyburn's double-double, the Utes were aided by Josh Watkins and Sean Glover, who scored 16 points and 15 points respectively.  This balanced scoring attack helped the Utes grab an early lead, which they would no surrender for nearly the entire length of the contest.
