Five Mountain West teams expected to go bowling
The Mountain West Conference caps off yet another thrilling season of football in 2011 as five teams are bowl eligible heading into the postseason. Led by Mountain West Conference Champion TCU (9-2) and preseason favorite Boise State (10-1), the Mountain West expects to see all five of their bowl eligible schools to play in postseason bowl games. Joining TCU and Boise State are Wyoming (7-4), San Diego State (7-4) and Air Force (7-5) as the 2011-2012 bowl schedule kicks off on December 17th with four bowl games featuring Mountain West Conference tie-ins to be played in the first nine days of the bowl season. The 2011 college bowl projections show TCU headed to the Las Vegas Bowl to face former MWC foe and current Pac 12 member Utah on December 22nd with Boise State headed to the Poinsettia Bowl to face Louisiana Tech on December 21st. Meanwhile Wyoming appears headed to the New Mexico Bowl in the bowl season's first game on December 17th against an at-large opponent, possibly Western Michigan, a 7-5 team from the MAC, and San Diego State seems headed to the Independence Bowl to square off with NC State on the 26th in Shreveport, Louisiana. Finally, Air Force is projected to take an at-large bowl bid to head to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and face Northwestern on December 30th.
